Property Monopoly "Spot the BYD" Competition

Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter

This competition is organised and promoted by Property Monopoly ("the Promoter") in partnership with BYD Mossel Bay dealership.

2. Competition Period

The competition opening and closing dates will be announced on Property Monopoly's official Facebook page and/or other official marketing channels. Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.

3. Eligibility

The competition is open to residents of South Africa who are 18 years of age or older.

Employees of Property Monopoly, participating BYD dealership, their immediate family members, agents, advertising agencies, and any persons directly involved in administering the competition may not enter.

4. How to Enter

To qualify for an entry, participants must:

  • Spot the branded Property Monopoly BYD vehicle.
  • Take a selfie with the car in the background.
  • Scan the QR code displayed on the back of the vehicle.
  • Read the 'How To Enter' details and click on the Enter Now button which will redirect you to the official pinned post on Facebook.
  • Submit the required selfie with the branded vehicle by commenting on the official competition post on Property Monopoly's Facebook page using the hashtags #propertymonopoly #bydmosselbay and tag yourself.

Bonus entries may be awarded for completing additional promotional actions as communicated by Property Monopoly, including but not limited to:

  • Following Property Monopoly on Facebook.
  • Following Property Monopoly on Instagram.
  • Subscribing to the Property Monopoly YouTube channel.
  • Other related entries that may arise in future.

Only completed entries received during the competition period will be eligible.

5. Prize

One eligible winner will receive:

  • A R1,000 fuel or grocery voucher. 
  • A one-week BYD test drive (subject to dealership approval and availability)

The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

6. One-Week BYD Test Drive

The one-week BYD test drive is subject to the winner meeting the participating BYD dealership's lending requirements and signing the required Courtesy Vehicle Loan Agreement. Should the winner not meet these requirements, or choose not to proceed with the loan agreement, the vehicle loan portion of the prize will be forfeited. The winner will still receive the R1,000 fuel or grocery voucher as their prize.

The winner agrees to comply with all terms and conditions contained in the dealership's Courtesy Vehicle Loan Agreement, including but not limited to responsibilities relating to vehicle care, traffic fines, authorised drivers and the return of the vehicle.

7. Winner Selection

The winner will be selected by random draw from all valid entries received during the competition period.

Property Monopoly reserves the right to verify the eligibility of the winner before awarding the prize.

Should the selected winner not respond within seven (7) days after being contacted, Property Monopoly reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

8. Prize Collection

The winner must collect the vehicle from the participating BYD dealership on the agreed date and return it in accordance with the dealership's loan agreement.

Any travel or incidental costs associated with collecting or returning the vehicle are for the winner's own account unless otherwise stated.

9. Publicity

By entering the competition, participants agree that Property Monopoly may use their name, photographs, video footage and competition-related content for promotional and marketing purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

10. Disqualification

Property Monopoly reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who:

  • Provides false or misleading information.
  • Tampers with the entry process.
  • Uses fraudulent or automated methods to enter.
  • Fails to comply with these Terms & Conditions.

11. Limitation of Liability

Property Monopoly, participating BYD dealership, sponsors and promotional partners shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury or claim arising from participation in the competition or acceptance or use of the prize, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

12. General

Property Monopoly reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the competition should circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.

The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

By entering this competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Additional Terms & Conditions – One Week BYD Test Drive Prize

1. Prize
The prize consists of the use of a BYD demonstration vehicle for a period of seven (7) consecutive days. The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

2. Winner Eligibility
The winner must:

  • The competition is open to residents of Mossel Bay and the surrounding Mossel Bay municipal area who meet all other entry requirements set out in these Terms & Conditions.
  • Hold a valid South African driver's licence.
  • Be legally permitted to drive in South Africa.
  • Produce a valid driver's licence and South African ID or passport before taking delivery of the vehicle.
  • Meet all requirements stipulated by the supplying BYD dealership.

3. Dealership Approval
The vehicle loan is subject to the final approval of the participating BYD dealership. Should the winner fail to meet the dealership's lending requirements, Property Monopoly reserves the right to redraw the prize or award it to an alternate winner.

4. Loan Agreement
The winner must sign the official BYD Courtesy Vehicle Loan Agreement before collecting the vehicle and agrees to comply with all terms contained therein.

5. Collection & Return
The winner is responsible for collecting and returning the vehicle to the designated BYD dealership on the agreed dates and times.

6. Fuel
The vehicle will be supplied with a full battery and must be returned in the same condition.

7. Traffic Fines & Violations
The winner accepts full responsibility for any traffic fines, toll fees, penalties or other charges incurred during the loan period.

8. Damage & Insurance Excess
The winner will be liable for any insurance excess, damage, loss or costs payable in terms of the BYD Courtesy Vehicle Loan Agreement.

9. Authorised Driver
Only the approved driver named on the dealership loan agreement may operate the vehicle.

10. Vehicle Use
The vehicle:

  • May only be driven within the Republic of South Africa.
  • May not be used for racing, towing, off-road driving, ride-sharing services, courier services, driver training, or any illegal activity.
  • May not be sub-let, loaned or transferred to another person.

11. Availability
Should the advertised vehicle become unavailable due to mechanical failure, accident, sale or circumstances beyond the dealership's control, Property Monopoly and BYD reserve the right to substitute the prize with a similar vehicle or reschedule the loan period.

12. Prize Validity
The seven-day test drive must be redeemed within three (3) months of the winner being announced, unless otherwise agreed in writing by the dealership.

13. Publicity
By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to reasonable publicity, including photographs, video and social media content for marketing purposes, without additional compensation.

14. Right to Verify
Property Monopoly reserves the right to verify the identity and eligibility of the winner before awarding the prize.

15. General
Property Monopoly, the participating BYD dealership, sponsors and promotional partners shall not be liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from participation in the competition or use of the prize, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
